07-07-2007  Sochi Olympics to be highly profitable, official says
The Sochi Olympics will be most profitable, Governor of the Krasnodar region Alexander Pochinok told the Echo of Moscow radio. He said that the investment in the preparation of the Olympics would be offset by the tourist infrastructure development. In his estimation, around 15m people will be coming to Sochi every year.
Of the total planned investment of $12bn the Olympic Committee will only claim $1.5bn, Pochinok said. The remainder will be used to finance infrastructure projects. Facilities intended for the Olympics are expected to be put in operation before 2014.
